Yes. Swap Cards and Tokentags work with NFC-capable iPhones and Android smartphones directly in the browser – no app to install, the web app opens automatically in the browser when you tap. To read, hold the card or tag to your phone; the matching page on tokentagged.com opens. For verifying, handing over and sending, the browser talks to the chip: on Android via Chrome, on the iPhone via Safari or Chrome. Desktop PCs have no NFC function; there you can only view certificates and balances.
Tokentagged charges no recurring fees for using the Swap Card or a Tokentag. Sending from the card and creating a certificate on the blockchain incur the Ethereum network fee (“gas”). It goes to the network, not to us, and is paid from the ETH balance of the sending address: from the card when sending from the card, from the connected wallet when creating a certificate. Handing the card over in person is not a blockchain transaction and costs nothing. To register and use Tokentags you also need your own Ethereum wallet holding a little ETH, from which the network fee is paid.
Orders from our shop are shipped by our logistics partner in Germany – orders received on business days by 1 p.m. usually leave the same day. Within Germany the parcel typically arrives the next business day. Shipping costs are shown in the cart – orders from €100 within Germany and from €200 worldwide ship free of charge. For orders placed via Amazon, the details stated on Amazon apply. As a consumer you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from receipt of the goods; details and the model form are in the withdrawal policy. Individually designed company editions are excluded from withdrawal. Statutory warranty rights apply.
Entries on the Ethereum blockchain are public: the address of the card or certificate, balances, tokens and all transactions can be viewed by anyone – without names, however. Certificate pages on tokentagged.com are public as well; the creator decides when publishing which photos and details appear there. Not public are your Tokentagged account, your e-mail address and your order data. Details are in our privacy policy.
The certificate does not live on our servers but as a token on the Ethereum blockchain. Images and descriptive data are additionally stored on Arweave when the certificate is created – a decentralised network for permanent storage. Both remain in place independently of Tokentagged and can be viewed with common wallets and blockchain explorers. Checking a Tokentag does not need any data from our servers either – everything required is public: the chip’s signature, the certificate on Ethereum and the manufacturer attestation. The Swap Card’s key is generated in the chip and never leaves it – the card remains a standalone Ethereum wallet even without our website. tokentagged.com merely provides the web app; any other app could perform the same check. An offline version of the web app, also to be stored on Arweave, is in progress.
The Swap Card is a hardware wallet: the key is generated in the chip, nobody but the chip has access to it, and the cards are sold without funds. You need neither a Tokentagged account nor an identity check to buy or use one. Handing the card over in person is a transaction between private individuals. Identity checks come up where you buy or sell cryptocurrency: exchanges and payment services are obliged to identify their customers and to ask about the owner when funds are transferred to self-hosted addresses (EU Transfer of Funds Regulation). This is not legal advice – for tax or legal questions please consult a professional.

Swap Card

The Swap Card is a card with a security chip that lets you physically store and hand over cryptocurrencies like Ether, tokens and digital collectibles. Its cryptographic NFC chip keeps the digital values safe. You can find more information about the Swap Card here:
The Swap Card can be purchased via the official website.
Yes, the Swap Card is designed for crypto newcomers as well as experienced users. It offers an easy entry into the world of cryptocurrencies and serves as a secure exchange medium at the same time. Using it is very simple: without a Tokentagged account and with no app to install, you hold the card to your smartphone – the Tokentagged web app opens automatically in the browser. There you see an overview of the values on the Swap Card and can transfer further values between your personal wallet and the Swap Card. Thanks to NFC, the Swap Card can also sign transactions for the blockchain – so digital values can be exchanged directly and securely.
The Swap Card ships without funds. Funds reach it like any other Ethereum address: you buy Ether (ETH) or tokens at a crypto exchange, or hold them in your own wallet, and send them to the card's address. You see the address as soon as you hold the card to your smartphone. Back into euros works the same way: from the card you send the funds to your own wallet or to your account at an exchange and sell them there. Buying or selling directly in the Tokentagged web app is currently not offered. Some exchanges ask for proof that an address belongs to you when you send to your own address – that is a requirement for the exchange, not for the card.
Ethereum (ETH) and tokens on Ethereum: ERC-20 (for example stablecoins such as USDC), ERC-721 and ERC-1155 (digital collectibles; Tokentagged certificates are ERC-1155 tokens). Other networks such as Bitcoin are not supported, so only send assets from the Ethereum network to the card.
The Swap Card is primarily designed for the physical exchange of cryptocurrencies, tokens and digital collectibles. It serves as a kind of physical wallet, allowing you to transfer digital values securely and directly from person to person. The special feature of the Swap Card is that the stored values exist exclusively on the card itself. However, this also means that if the card is lost or defective, these values are lost, as no one else has access to them. For this reason, we recommend treating the Swap Card like a wallet: only load it with an amount whose loss you could bear. This way you can take advantage of the card's benefits while keeping the risk manageable.
Yes. The Swap Card uses cryptographic NFC chips like those found in bank cards and other high-security systems, protecting your digital values such as cryptocurrencies, tokens and digital collectibles. Only whoever holds the card can access its contents – every transaction is confirmed on the card with its own signature. Important: anyone with physical access to the card can transfer the stored values. So keep the card safe and make sure nobody gets unauthorised access to it – not even via an NFC scan through your wallet. Storing your Swap Card securely is just as important as the technology itself.
To use the Swap Card, you simply load Ether or other tokens onto the card – similar to a digital wallet. The integrated NFC chip protects the stored values: only whoever holds the card can transfer them. This makes the Swap Card a trustworthy exchange object – after the handover, the previous holder no longer has access to the stored values.
Simply hold your Swap Card to an NFC-enabled device like your smartphone. You are automatically taken to the Tokentagged web app, where you see an overview of the existing values. From there, start the transfer of cryptocurrencies or tokens from your personal wallet to the Swap Card. Confirm the transaction in your wallet – the selected values are loaded onto the card and ready to use.
The Swap Card is a versatile tool that finds application wherever physical exchange mediums are welcome. It not only serves as an ideal gift or a secure exchange medium but also as a practical solution for storing and using cryptocurrencies in everyday life. It is particularly suitable for transferring crypto values to people who do not yet have their own digital wallet. Thus, the Swap Card proves to be a good entry tool for newcomers to the world of cryptocurrencies, as it provides easy and secure access to this ecosystem. Whether as an introduction to the world of digital currencies, as a means of secure exchange, or simply for personal use – the Swap Card opens up many possibilities.
Simply hold the Swap Card to an NFC-enabled smartphone. You go straight to the Tokentagged web app, which clearly shows you all values stored on the card – no app to install. This way you always have a clear overview of your digital values, conveniently and without detours.
The Swap Card grants any holder immediate access to the stored values – much like a wallet full of cash. So store it carefully.

Tokentags

An NFC-capable smartphone (iPhone or Android) with internet access – no app to install: the web app opens automatically in the browser when you tap and shows the associated digital certificate on tokentagged.com. To verify the signature or create a certificate you also connect your own Ethereum wallet holding a little ETH for the network fee; the chip communication runs through Chrome on Android and through Safari or Chrome on the iPhone.
Tokentags can be purchased in various executions via the official website.
A Tokentag should be attached so that it cannot easily be removed – on the back of a painting, for example, or with screw or rivet mounting on other objects. The chip confirms its own authenticity and its link to the certificate; the firm attachment, the photos and details stored in the certificate and the documented chain of ownership establish that chip and object belong together. If the chip is damaged it cannot be repaired and its key cannot be recovered. The certificate on the blockchain remains, but it can no longer be verified with that chip.

The digital certificate with Tokentags offers significant advantages over traditional paper certificates:

  • Copy-protected: Unlike paper certificates, the digital certificate on the blockchain cannot be forged, altered, or destroyed. The authenticity is cryptographically verifiable.
  • Complete provenance: Every change of ownership is automatically and immutably recorded. Buyers and sellers can trace the entire history of an artwork at any time.
  • Automatic royalties: Smart contracts allow artists to automatically participate in every future resale – something no paper certificate can do.
  • Global digital marketplaces: Certified works become tradable on international digital marketplaces, opening entirely new sales channels.
  • Always available: The certificate cannot be lost, misplaced, or damaged – it is permanently stored on the blockchain.

In summary, the Tokentag transforms a traditional paper certificate into a living digital document that actively creates added value for artists, collectors, and manufacturers.

The Tokentag replaces the traditional paper certificate with a digital, copy-protected certificate of authenticity on the blockchain. As an artist, you benefit in multiple ways: You receive royalties on resales where marketplaces support them. Your works become tradable on global digital marketplaces. The complete history of each artwork – from creation to every change of ownership – is immutably documented. Additionally, the Tokentag system protects your works against counterfeits and simplifies authenticity verification for buyers and sellers alike.
As a manufacturer, the Tokentag gives your customers a copy-protected digital certificate of authenticity – no more paper certificates that can be forged or lost. Your customers can verify the authenticity of your products in seconds with a simple smartphone scan. Additionally, you can participate in resales through royalties where marketplaces support them. Customers also benefit by being able to unequivocally prove the ownership of your (for example, limited) products.
The tokentag and the associated NFT work through a secure and unique technology. Each tokentag generates a private key, from which a public key is then generated. This public key serves as the token ID. Since the private key is secret and known only to the tokentag, no one else can produce an identical tokentag with the same token ID. This makes each tokentag unique and uncopyable. When minting an NFT, a special contract address is set along with the tokentag's token ID and stored on the tokentag. This contract address cannot be changed later, making the tokentag and the NFT inseparably linked. This connection ensures that the authenticity and originality of the NFT are always traceable and secured.
The security of the Tokentags relies on security chips that have proven themselves in bank cards and authentication systems. The secret key is generated inside the Tokentag, stored only there and never leaves it – not even we as the manufacturer know it. Cloning a Tokentag would mean extracting this key from the chip, which is exactly what the chip is built to prevent (Common Criteria EAL 6+). A copied print or a written-down number therefore does not help forgers. The check happens right in the browser: it gives the chip a fresh challenge, the chip signs it, and the browser compares the result with the address in the certificate – no central key on a server.
In this context, Real World Assets (RWAs) refer to physical assets such as artworks, collectibles, and other valuable products that represent unique value in our real world. Through the technology of tokenization on blockchain platforms, these special items are digitally represented. This process transforms valuable, traditional goods into digital assets that can be managed and traded within blockchain technology. This digital representation opens up innovative ways to interact with art and collectibles, expanding the possibilities for use by simplifying proof of authenticity and ownership, and enabling global trade.

Real World Assets (RWAs), such as artworks, collectibles, and other valuable objects, are physical assets that exist in the real world and possess intrinsic or sentimental value. These assets can be characterized by their physical condition, history, and uniqueness.

Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), on the other hand, are digital certificates representing ownership rights to a digital or physical asset on a blockchain. In the context of art and collectibles, NFTs serve as a digital verification of the authenticity and ownership of a work. They enable the origin and life story of an artwork to be documented transparently and securely.

The main difference between RWAs and NFTs lies in their nature: RWAs are the actual physical objects, while NFTs represent the ownership rights and authenticity of these objects in digital form. The integration of RWAs with NFTs creates new opportunities for verification, trade, and appreciation of artworks and collectibles in the digital world.

RWAs and their areas of application, especially in connection with Tokentags, can be categorized as follows:

  1. Financial instruments: Stocks, bonds, funds, or exchange-traded funds (ETFs) can act as security tokens.
  2. Real estate: Whether through direct tokenization of property titles or indirectly via real estate funds, Tokentags offer a way to secure physical documents and evidence in the real estate sector. For example, the authenticity of certificates or affiliation with a specific real estate fund can be effectively verified by attaching a Tokentag.
  3. Alternative investment goods: This category includes a wide range of items such as precious metals, artworks, classic cars, and other rare collectibles. The benefit of Tokentags is particularly evident here:
    • Artworks and collectibles: Tokentags enable the secure linkage of these physical objects with digital certificates on the blockchain. This documents the authenticity, provenance, and ownership of these valuable goods transparently and securely. Buyers and collectors benefit from a simplified verification process and the assurance of acquiring authentic works.
    • Precious metals and luxury items: By applying Tokentags to items such as gold bars or luxury watches, they can be effectively registered as individual assets on the blockchain. This not only simplifies trading and storage but also creates a new form of investment that connects digital and physical assets.

Overall, Tokentags extend the possibilities of tokenization and offer new levels of security, transparency, and tradeability for both owners and investors of RWAs.

3D models

There are two ways: have a 3D model calculated from photos, or upload your own 3D model. From photos it is easy with your smartphone or another camera: you photograph the object from all sides (depending on the object, about 20 to 200 photos) and upload the pictures to Tokentagged. First, you create a new project or select one of your projects. Then choose “New 3D model” → “Calculate from photos” there and upload your pictures. Our servers then calculate a model for you. If you already have a model (e.g. from a 3D program or a scanner), choose “Upload your own 3D model” instead. You can find a guide here:
Yes. Besides calculating a model from photos, you can upload a finished 3D model – as a mesh (glb, gltf, obj, fbx, stl, ply or zip with textures) or as a Gaussian splat (ply, spz, splat, glb), up to 200 MB. After the upload we prepare the model automatically (size, orientation, preview and trailer); it then appears in the certificate and in the media slider just like a calculated model. All you need is a Tokentagged account, and you confirm that you own the rights to the model; no 3D voucher is needed and the upload is currently free of charge. In your project choose “New 3D model” → “Upload your own 3D model”.
You must take at least 20 pictures, and you can upload up to 200 pictures. The more pictures you upload, the better the result will be. We recommend taking at least 50 photos and at least 100 photos for larger objects or many details and angles. The images must overlap significantly. If the overlap of the images is not large enough, not all images can always be used in the calculation.
Good 3D models can be generated from still objects with structured surfaces. Beautiful models cannot be calculated from transparent, reflective, and color-homogeneous objects. However, the 360° view can be applied to almost all still objects. Therefore, you can also create a model of an unsuitable object and then limit the display to the 360° view. If an object is hard to photograph, you can upload a finished 3D model instead.
Creating a 3D model from photos costs €4. Payment is made before the calculation. If you do not like the result, you can get 50% refunded (before completion). Alternatively you can upload a finished 3D model – see “Can I upload my own 3D models?”.
The calculation time depends on the number of images. Usually, it takes between 10 minutes and 2 hours. Once the calculation is finished, you will be notified via email.
Whether the result is good depends very much on the images. It is essential to follow the tips from the instructions. If you are not satisfied with the result, you can either get 50% of the payment refunded or restart the calculation with additional images for €2. Before the new calculation, you should try to find the reason for the poor result (e.g., too few images or blurry images) and upload better images accordingly.
You can redeem the voucher before the calculation of a 3D model, where the payment also takes place. If you have a voucher code, you can enter it there. If you have vouchers on your account, you can select them there.
You can download your own models in both the edited and unedited versions. Simply click on the download symbol in the media slider.
The media slider can be easily embedded into websites and webshops. All you need to do is open the NFT and select the 'Embed' menu item from the three-dot symbol at the top right. Then copy the code displayed there into your website. You can also make further settings in the embedding menu, such as selecting the size, displaying the project description, and much more.
